Leaving them until they are at least fully mature is important to me. That
means waiting till they are 6-8 months old. I live in western Pennsylvania
in the US and my ferrets are born march-july ( most in April or may) and
tend to come into season around Nov-January. The first season is the worst
and the longest. My boys tend to stay in for around 12 months the first time
around. After that they come in around Dec and go back out around September
each year. Some males are worse than others when it comes to aggression,
odor, marking behavior, moodiness etc. Waiting till your boy is fully grown
will allow him to develop as he should structurally and allow muscle mass to
be laid down. Altering before maturity really does dramatically effect how
the ferret develops physically. Medical reprecusions of early neutering
have be well discussed I am sure :)
