Since shelters always have to prepared, any way, for the possibility that an animal taken in might carry some sort of disease, perhaps this would be a good opportunity for shelters and others with knowledge to review the safety precautions they take and discuss them here to pick up new tips.

Some things could include:
how fast you get vet assessments
how rapidly you vaccinate
how long you quarantine
how you handle parasite checks and treating
how you handle heartworm testing if in a heartworm area or getting ferrets from a heartworm area
how you handle things like clothing changes, show changes, and personal hygiene between the isolation area and the established ferrets area
how you clean
etc.
