I have the results of a study on deslorelin acetate (brand name Suprelorin)=
use in ferrets for treatment of adrenal disease. In part, it says...

"Administration of a single 3 mg implant of deslorelin acetate resulted in =
significant decreases in the clinical signs and hormonal concentrations ass=
ociated with ACD [adrenal cortical disease]. Within 14 days post-implant, =
vulvar swelling, pruritus, sexual behaviors and aggression decreased or dis=
appeared. Hair re-growth was evident by 4-6 weeks post-implant."

plus...

"mean estradiol concentration decreased 22%; 17-hydroxyprogesterone levels =
decreased 82% and androstenedione levels decreased 30%."

and...

"The average time until recurrence of clinical signs was 13.7 =B1 3.5 month=
s with a range of 8.5-20.5 months. "

So it's definitely longer lasting than Lupron. As for cost... It's specifi=
cally a veterinary drug, not a human cancer drug like Lupron, so I would im=
agine it would be less expensive.

And finally, and perhaps most importantly...

"Deslorelin may not reduce adrenal tumor growth as some animals developed l=
arge adrenal tumors while being treated with deslorelin."
