I would try to rinse it out with some saline solution first to make sure
there isn't anything in it. If that didn't work I would call the vet and
try to get in for an appointment first thing.
Good luck!

My Sammy has had some sort of respiratory problem for over a year now. We
have tried everything under the sun and nothing has worked. He has had
radiographs twice, nasal flushes twice, a laryngeal exam, a heartworm test,=
a biopsy (not sure what to call it) of the nasal discharge, and has been on=
rounds of both Baytril and Clavamox, as well as pred. Nothing helped and
no definitive diagnosis has been made. My vet and I both also consulted
with other vets. What we do know is that it's not a mass of any sort and
doesn't appear to be life-threatening.
=
I first noticed it in July of 2004. After about six months of trying to
diagnose and treat, we just gave up. He finally got better maybe in March
or April, and in July started up full-fledged again. His poor little head
always sounds full of congestion. Sometimes, there is a discharge. When
there is, I use a "snot sucker" (sorry, don't know what it's called; one of=
those blue bulb things). I also give him Tiny Noses pediatric nose drops
(1-2 drops in each nostril) twice a day. I don't think they help, but they=
make me feel like I'm doing something. Sammy will also get very thin at
times. I suspect he doesn't eat like he should because he can't taste
anything. When this happens, I force-feed him for a while until his weight=
gets back up.
=
I call him Cricket Boy. He will make this loud sound that sounds just like=
a bunch of crickets outside at night! LOL He also coughs and sneezes a lot=
.=
I actually taped it for my vet to hear because, of course, they never do it=
at the vet. =
=
At this point, there's nothing more to try. I just give him supportive
care. He seems to feel just fine otherwise.
