The doctor put them on dog food?? I have heard to never put them on dog food. I
would first try the food the breeder used (if they are Marshall ferrets (you can tell by
the blue/black dots on eye)- then the breeder uses marshall food). If already used
that, you can try to feed them turkey or chicken baby food- Gerber Stage 2. Also,
you can try 8-1 Ultimate food, or totally ferret food. I would definitely keep them on
a high protein diet- but no dog food! A high Protein kitten food works- Iams or
Eukanaba. Make sure the protein is not less than 36%. You can add Pedialyte (found
in the baby row) in their water bottles. This will help hydrate them.

Also- you should always have food out for your ferrets at all times as they eat
anywhere from 7-10 times a day.
Goodluck with being new at this- I found the best way to learn was the book
"Ferrets for dummies"- it actually is the best and informative book I have had in my
collection and great for a new comer. Do not get discouraged- they are great pets. It
sounds like ECE- but I would definitely look into a vet with lots of ferret experience-
you can look up your state at : http://www.ferret.org/

GOODLUCK!
