Cujo went to the vet this evening and the vet didn't find anything that would lead
him to believe he had a kidney or bladder infection. He did check his glucose and it
was 56 and this was probably 10 to 15 minutes after being fed about 25 cc's of the
baby food recipe. Our vet thinks that these episodes of nausea, lethargy, and teeth
grinding is due to the insulinoma??
I've only tried the pediapred on Cujo once, maybe twice , and he doesn't tolerate it
very well so the vet suggested deximethasone and possibly proglycem. I've been
giving Cujo carafate for quite sometime and we always always make sure he gets
frequent baby food recipe feedings, at least every five hrs. if not more. He weighs
about 3 and 1/2 lbs and is approx . six yrs. old.
He is the only ferret left here as all his brothers and sisters have left us. Cujo had an
episode like this a month or two ago and it took close to two weeks before he
decided to eat on his own instead of being syringe fed and was right back to
hopping all over like a kit, then boom, about a week ago he started it again. It's
strange because at one feeding he might lap it right out of the bowl like a little pig,
then fight me like heck the next time. Our vet says the teeth grinding is most likely
from abdomen pain caused by the insulinoma??????? Anyone have ideas on any of
this?
Thanks to everyone for all the previous posts!
