Subject: Micro tumors?

My ferret scout just had surgery for insulinoma. The dr told me that she couldn't find any tumors on the pancres but that he may have something called microtumors. She removed the left leg of the pancreas and also the spleen because she said that it looked abnormal, but he tested negative for lymphosarcoma. Everything else looked good, the liver and nodes were fine and so were the adrenal glands. She told me that she sent samples of both out to be biop'd. If the pancreas came back cancerous the she said that he wouldn't have any other options other than drug therapy. Has anyone ever had this happen? Is there type of spleen disease that could mimic insulinoma? Did my vet do everything right? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
