Be sure to have a chest x-ray done to look at the lungs and the heart along with a prompt vet exam.

Hopefully, it will not be anything serious, but coughing and trouble breathing are potentially too serious to not get prompt attention, and if the cause is one of the serious ones you want to be able to treat appropriately in a timely fashion.
