By your description it does sound like this was something other than
epilepsy, insulinoma or any type of seizure (but it's good that they had the
ferret checked anyway). If the ferret was frightened by something and held
by the neck or restrained when it tried to get away, it's quite possible
that it would react with panic and even aggression. That would also explain
why it went on for such a long time, 5-6 minutes, if the owner didn't let
go.
