Dinky is around 5 years of age. She has been in excellent health until about a month ago, I came home from work, she was dragging her hing legs, almost like she had hurt herself in some way. I immediately took her to her Vet, who did Xrays and Blood Work. The Xrays were normal, nothing broken, the Blood was was ok at that time, even Glucose.
The Vet prescribed Prednislone and meloxicam which did offer some improvement. I noticed some thinning of the hair on her tail and head, my Vet referred us to a state Vet hosptial by this time.
We went through the entire process again, testing and found out Dinky had adnrenal tumor, she had surgery to remove a very large adrenal tumor, at this time a lymph node biopsy was done. The node was normal. Dinky recovered but the hind leg weakness continued, the hair has begun to grow back in now. The incision has almost healed up, she pushes herself along the floor, so I have to keep the liquid bandage on the incision line to make sure it does not get irritated.
Now more Blood work shows anemia, her spleen is enlarged, the Vet said during surgery the spleen was enlarged and bleed some but he did not remove it.
The Vet wants to do a bone marrow aspiration to rule out lymphoma.
Dinky has a very good appetite and has little energy, I have been through so much with her over the past month.
My mom and I bought her at 6 weeks of ago, my mom was very sickly as well and we wanted something to stay inside with her, my mom died a couple of years ago, Dinky has been so close to her and myself, she is part of the family and it hurts so much to see her sickly and not feeling her usual self.
The thoughts of cancer, it scares me to think I may loose her very soon.
Does anyone out there know the treatments for lympho? And the survial rate/times?
Thanks in advance
Arthur
