Yogi has been on 1 ml. pred (6.7/5ml) when she was diagnosed with insulinoma. I was told at the time that this is the "beginner dosage" for insulinoma in ferrets, and that when she starts showing symptoms again, I should increase by .5 ml a day. OK, fine. ( Thanks to this group, I divide the dosage and supplement with chicken gravy.) About a week ago, I noticed her having trouble with her back legs again, added .25 to each dose, and the problem went away. However, I just noticed her walking out of the room, and she was limping severely again. It's only the middle of the day, about 7 hours after her first dose, and only a week since I last upped her meds. Of course I'll up the meds again, and I remember people writing that their ferrets got up to 3 ml twice a day, so I guess I'm not worried about her getting too much since she obviously needs it. (She's not tiny--just over 1.75 lbs with ferretone on her belly.) But so soon? Does that mean that her tumors are doing especially nasty things? Is there something I should tell my vet, who sometimes asks me what you guys say?
