I'm assuming that Loki's wasn't malignant, since the vet said nothing
about it, but I'm going to double check with him about it. Her
spleen was also very large. The vet said it was the largest he'd
ever seen, at about 4 times normal size. He didn't remove it,
though, because other than size it looked healthy, and normal in
color. All other organs, including the other adrenal gland looked
normal and healthy.

He put her on an intramuscular shot of Soludelta Cortef IV
(Prednisolone Sodium Succinate) at .10 cc twice per day for 5 days,
to help with shock.

Things are looking alot better for Loki today. Yesterday, which was
when we brought her home, I really wasn't feeling positive about her
recovery. She had some thinned A/D Diet while at the vets which they
had to syringe feed her because she refused to eat, and then refused
food for me all day yesterday, so I was giving her plenty of Nutrical
to at least get some nutrients into her. That's all she was willing
to eat. She was doing fine with drinking water on her own from the
time she got home, luckily. She finally had some crunchies last
night around 8PM. That was first time she ate on her own in nearly
48 hours. From then on, she had a little more to eat each time she
ate, and it became more frequent that she visited the bowl. I'm
still supplementing her with Nutrical often, because I think she
needs every bit of nutrients that she can get. She only weighed in
at 1.4 Lbs. yesterday, and some of that was probably from the fluids
that she was given, so she needs to gain weight.

She's also much more alert today, which is good. At this point, I
think she's doing pretty well considering the trauma that her body
went through on Monday. I'm not sure if/what problems we might see
down the road from what happened to her, but I'm trying to stay
hopeful. Thank you for the replies of similar experiences.

I'm also keeping an online journal of her progress, along with
photos, if anyone is interested in taking a look at
http://www.hideyhole.org/index.php?module=v4bJournal&func=journal_view&mode=detail&uid=2.
I'm sure most of you have seen a ferret after surgery, but if you
haven't, please note that some photos aren't intended for sensitive
viewers. Loki has some pretty nasty bruising going on.

Take care,
Jen
