Subject: [ferrethealth] Diarrhea for over a year

I've been reading some of the posts here about Pepto and the triple treatments. My ten ferrets have had recurring diarrhea for one year and one month now. We've tried Chloramphenicol, Amoxy/Flagrl/Pepto, Albon, Tylan. They have not lost weight or became dehydrated. Even the vet is surprised they are holding up so well. I've tried dropping/adding food. I was giving Bob Churchs chicken gravy twice a day and just as an experiment I switched to "slop" (2/3 cup ferret food and water in blender til a gravy). The current mix of food (last two weeks) is Iams, Maxximum Nutrition, 8-in-1 Ultimate, Zupreem, and Path Valley. Sometimes I use Ferret Store Superior Choice, Purina Pro Plan Kitty, or Eukanuba.
I gave them a dose of Immodium AD today. If anyone has any more ideas of what to check for or do, please let me know. We've sent poop samples off and found nothing. First visit to the vet he saw "spore producing bacteria" but didn't know what kind.
Darla
