Subject: [ferrethealth] need some verification

I belong to a livejournal ferret group which I love. they are always available for each other, get to see some great ferret pics,etc. but they have been talking alot about waardenburgs and the mental retardation that comes with the neural crest. Is this true, or always the case? My tap tap is deaf, prominent markings,neural crest, smart as a whip. If there is retardation in ferrets, how it is verified? I wonder if they are talking off the wall here.
