Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] A QUESTION FOR VETS
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

When Pertwee's life was on the line our vet was able
to have tests "rushed", whatever that means. I know
we had results back in a couple of days. Ditto
pathology after Pertwee's nephrectomy though by that
point we knew Pertwee was making an amazing recovery.
Still, it was great to learn quickly that there was no
carcinoma in the kidney and that Pertwee's life had
been saved.

My point is that routine blood work can take a week or
more. There should be, and in my experience is, a way
to rush the procedure when a life is on the line.

Adrenal is rarely quickly life threatening. If it was
a Tennessee Panel rather than full bloodwork I can see
why a lab wouldn't rush. They didn't see any urgency.

The usual disclaimer applies: I am not a vet.

All the best,
Caity and the fantastic five
