Subject: [ferrethealth] Stray just arrived: BRIGHT RED nose, paws...???
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

This little gal is young (under 2), in good weight (not skinny at all), MASSIVELY dehydrated and her nose and paws are all BRIGHT, DEEP red. ??? I'm thinking she got into some sort of poison...she was found in a drainage ditch about 3 hours ago now.

It's 6:15 EST and I've called every ferret vet in town and they're all gone home (not unusual for this area). Anyone have any ideas of what I might do for her? Sub-q fluids are onboard (half an hour ago now) but she's no better.

Oh, and it's been in the low 60's at worst for the last couple of days. And also, her ears are normal color. I've seen redness during a low glucose episode...but her glucose is fine.

DRATDRATDRAT!!!
