Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: adrenal removal
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Unless the vet says he isn't healthy I am going to go ahead with surgery. I've read a lot of literature that says older ferrets can do just fine with the surgery, as long as they are healthy. So far my guy has been bright and alert. He's never not passed his physicals at the vet. I mean my vet who saw him a week ago thought we could even wait longer for his surgery (this was before the incident on Friday w/urinary trouble) based off his actions and his exam. As far as I can tell, just as an owner, I think he is healthy enough for the surgery. The last couple of days I've seen him more energetic then he's been in a while, like kit levels. For the most part he's been a lazy ferret, he's just chill. So if the past days are any indicator I'd say he should be good to go with his surgery! If I honestly felt he couldn't make it, or showed any signs of not being in good health there is no way I'd risk it.
