How old is Calix? If over 1.5 years, DIM shouldn't be a worry.
Don't give up, I know how desperate you are and worried. Him eating on
his own is such a good sign! Perhaps he was just so worn down from
whatever infection he caught, then the surgery, he just needs some more
time to recover. Keep your faith, love & cuddle him and I'll pray for
you & Calix :-)
