Subject: [ferrethealth] IBD protocol needed pre -op surgery

I asked for help on the IBD protocol before here and didn't get a definative answer so my vet and I are flying by the seat of our pants on this. We put him, my MF deaf blaze male 3 year old ferret, on .9 mg prednisolone 2 times a day. How long should we keep him on this, 14 days? 21 days?
He is also adrenal by symptoms- naked belly, fur loss on trunk of body but not on tail or feet. How long before surgery should we take him off of the Pred?
ALL comments or helpful hints would be most appreciated in this matter as my vet is new to ferret medicine. Thanks, Mary Jo
