I have a female(spayed) ferret who had both her adrenals removed
a few years ago. Since she hasn't responded to Lupron, Melotonin,
OR Arimidex, I have been over the issue of anemia with her vet
many times. He assures me it's quite rare in spayed ferrets--is
generally due to ovarian remnant when it does occur.

Without testing, one can't say for sure that your ferret's anemia
was actually caused by the adrenal disease.

In my experience (granted, I'm a tech not a vet) Petecchia is
usually caused by some sort of clotting disorder--although if your ferret's
platelets were decreased, along with her red cells, her
clotting would be affected.

While it's true that a clotting disorder such as that caused by
poor liver function would make her blood slower to clot, so that she
would bruise easily and wounds would take longer to stop
bleeding, it's also true that the skin is laced with tiny vessels, and
that the implanting needle is a very large bore.

I've inserted the implant close to 20 times now and even a perfectly
healthy ferret can bleed a shocking amount from the procedure.
Then there are those, like your other ferret, who seem to heal
instantly, without shedding a drop. It's really the luck of the draw
if you avoid a small vessel or not.

It seems like there's a lot of room for uncertainty here but I would
say one thing is for sure: you did only the things for your ferret that
you thought would help him, and you can't beat yourself up for that.
Scientists, Doctors and Vets often note that just because two things
occur at the same time doesn't mean they are cause and effect.
Sometimes things merely happen at the same time.

Just some thoughts...
