Subject: [ferrethealth] ADV from NZ ferrets
To: <ferrethealth@smartgroups.com>

Unfortunately, from what I have heard, quite a few of the ferrets I
imported, tested positive for ADV.

What is strange is that they didn't, to my knowledge, (And that is
important!) ever became active, except, as I stated, one, who we know,
positively, came in contact with an actively shedding, ADV ferret.

And I repeat myself here...none of my other ferrets, that lived with my two
New Zealand positives (I have a third NZ boy who has always tested
negative), ever tested positive. In fact, for some strange reason, I am
blessed with long lived ferrets...10 years average.

As was communicated to me, New Zealand's government (Specifically MAF)
'could care less' now, as new ferret ownership has been banned there. I
guess this one way to 'cover up' their apparent blunder in stating they are
ADV free. (Not that would do such a thing.....)
