Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Gain weight
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Has she always been thin or has she lost weight?

If she is losing weight markedly then the cause needs to be found by her vet. It pays to check for cardiomyopathy (including hypertrophic which has a strong history or causing weight loss according to multiple posts by ferret people), check for a partial blockage, check the pancreas, check for intestinal disease, etc. The good news is that when the cause is found for weight loss then appropriate treatment can often reverse that and will provide quality of of life, and depending on the cause also quantity of life.
