0.10-2.5 mg/kg q 12-24h PO is what is listed for dosing range in _Essentials of Ferrets, a Guide for Practitioners_ by Dr. Karen Purcell.
That said, there are those here who have used more for other conditions (including us), and those here who have split doses to 3 times per day for another use (insulinoma) (again including us).
Prednisolone works better than Prednisone if the liver is at all compromised. One of our IBD ferrets did have both liver and pancreatic inflammation secondary to his IBD and a stomach and small intestine deformity he had which resulted in progressive organ dilation that caused him to regularly also get furballs due to poor motility. (This was a neural crest genetic variant ferret who also was born with syndactyly.)
Be SURE to give food along with either Pred to avoid stomach irritation and it would not hurt to give Carafate a half hour to 45 minutes beforehand.
If the problem worsens then Imuran might be tried; that is a chemo approach.
