Subject: [ferrethealth] very sick ferret
Frankie has had diarrhea on and off for quite some time. All the sudden the diarrhea turned black and he became lethargic. The vet has done a barrage of tests but nothing is conclusive yet. I think I'm going to lose him. I need some ideas for the vet. Here are his symptoms: enlarged spleen, temp 102.8, lethargic, no appetite, diarrhea, seedy poops, black poops showing digested blood sometimes. The vet sent away a bunch of blood work, did x-rays, physical exam, fecal exam, has him on clindamyacin (sp), pepto bismol, and flagyl. Any ideas? Please email me at ddittman@csonline.net if so. Thanks.
