To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

We typically use Fludrocort (the generic of Florinef) and Prediapred (a form of Prednisolone), but we have had one who used to get Percortin shots instead of Fludrocort because his IBD would cause the Fludrocort to sometimes pass out of him too rapidly.

Fludrocort and liquid Prednisolone are both very inexpensive, BTW.

Amounts need to be adjusted according the weight, activity levels, and any physical stress the ferret is under since higher levels of of any of those create higher needs for these meds.

Fludrocort comes in serrated tablets or caplets. The serration means that the medication is evenly distributed throughout. You do not want one without the serration. It is easily given by being cut and then the portion crushed and given with an oil treat such as Ferretone.

You will find information about each of these medications in the FHL Archives.
