Addison's is a condition caused by the destruction of the adrenal cortex, or by total removal of the adrenal glands as in your ferret's case. Without adrenal glands, Addison's doesn't go away or go into remission. He cannot live without the replacement hormones you are giving him.
It sounds like his medication may need some adjustment. They definitely shouldn't be stopped.
