That is amazing that you had one untill the age of 12 wow you dont hear that do you....And as I said Aussie ferrets dont seem to suffer verymuch from Insulinoma and Adrenal wonder why Why do you think Chris?from Belinda
Chris <Chris@oldpolecat.co.uk> wrote:Hi Belinda, a ferret is just a domesticated Polecat, originally bred from
the naturally occurring Albino Polecats. Polecats are indigenous to Northern
Europe and working ferreters in the UK used to catch them to add wild
polecat blood to their working ferrets every 4/5 years to keep the ferrets
keen. France also has a good population of wild Polecats. When I first used
ferrets in the 60s they were definitely not finger friendly as people
thought they worked better that way. I was given a half wild polecat jill in
the 70s, her grandchildren produced by the daughter I kept all lived to 8
with the oldest(Charlie) a large hob who lived to 12.
Polecats were nearly wiped out in the UK before WW1 but now have spread out
from Wales and other small pockets of population, see =
