Thanks for the clarification on why early neutered ferrets need more care
taken with lighting.
Yes, I have unspeyed females and those that have been speyed were typically
done at over 1 year of age(usually 2 or 3, or 5 if used for breeding). The
males don't fare as well because they need to "run with the mob", so are
castrated when they come into season at about 6 months of age.
One difference I noticed when I was in USA was that your entire males in
season did not become the dark orange that our boys do, and nor did they
smell as much as ours. I didn't meet any entire girls, but our girls also
develop quite a dark orange colour and strong smell when in season.
The speyed & neutered ferrets seemed to smell the same as ours but overall
ours seem more "dense" (and I don't mean between the ears). I wonder if UK
ferrets are more like those from Aus. or USA.

<Are your ferrets intact or fixed? and if they were fixed,
