Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Lupron Advice Needed
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com
We have had, I guess, one (an adult rescue who was about to be destroyed by a general shelter) who had it for treatment (parts of the R adrenal had invaded the Vena Cava but she did not have enough collateral circulation showing when the Cava was compressed with a fingertip to survive ligation. For her it was given sub cutaneously in the scruff and worked great.
We also use sub cutaneous ones for our Spring preventative injections, also sub cu in the scruff.
My two favorite places for assorted Lupron info are:
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/
(especially posts from
AFERRETVET
and posts containing
janke
in the from line)
My other favorite is
http://www.miamiferret.org/fhc/
(which even has write-ups by a pharmacology researcher into Lupron, including what type to not use and why)
BTW, I know from numerous communications that these are also preferred resources for a number a ferret vets.
