Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Ferret vets near Jacksonville, Florida
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com
I had to look hard to find a good Ferret Vet here in my area (Orlando) I did and he saved my ferret Sneeki from a bad bout with Adrenal tumor on her right adrenal gland. the first vet didn't know anything except how to give a vaccine.
I had considered taking her to Gainesville as there is an expert in Gainesville. I'm not sure if this helps, but the name of the Dr. is Deborah Cottrell DVM and the clinic is West End Animal Hospital. The website is westendanimal.com. If nothing else, perhaps they can refer you to a ferret knowledgeable vet in Jax.
It is so frustrating when a vet looks at your ferret like they don't know what to do! I hope you get this taken care of and all is well for you and your furry one.
The symptoms for the adrenal condition with Sneeki were she began losing hair on her butt and tail, and before the surgery, she had thinning fur from her back legs all the way to the tail. She was a bit more subdued and she itched worse than a usual "bugging" and she urinated more, and her vulva was swollen.
Anyway, I hope this helps and you can get the proper care you are needing.
My best, Lori

Am I missing something or is hair loss a sign of insuloma. I was more into thinking it is adrenal disease.
