Ah, I didn't know that. Makes sense, as I just read it only takes about one or two worms to kill a ferret. Reading that a ferret has a 50% survival rate (Miami ferret page: http://www.miamiferret.org/fhc/heartworm.htm ), prevention is absolutely necessary. Thanks for pointing that out, Mike.
