Subject: [ferrethealth] Proglycem dosages
To: <ferrethealth@smartgroups.com>

Your ferret would need 7.5 mg roughly, rounding his weight to 1.5 kg. With
20 mg in 1 ml, he would need 0.375 ml and if you didn't round his weight
down to 1.5 kg then he would get exactly 0.3875ml. I wonder if you could
give him 0.4ml, don't know how exact the dosing has to be with Proglycem.
Use a 1 ml syringe for that, that's what I do with one ferret's liquid
frusemide as she only gets between 0.25 and 0.3 ml.

I have a question regarding dosage of Proglycem. I was doing a search on
the
health list for this drug and found a post by Dr Murray that referred to an
article in Modern Ferret. I have that issue and in it he states that the
starting dosage for this drug is 5mg/kg 2-3 times a day. I have a ferret
that
weighs approximately 1550 gms and his Proglycem is compounded 20mg/ml. How
does
this translate to the 5mg/kg dosing? And how does this translate to
milliliters? What would be a recommended safe dosage of this drug for my
ferret.

Thanks,
Ann
