Subject: [ferrethealth] Prolapsed Rectum, Congestive Heart Failure & Medication Dosage?

Recently our Clyde was diagnosed with a Prolapsed Rectum, for which he was prescribed Preparation H after each bowel movement, and Congestive Heart Failure, our vet prescribed 5 mg Lasix twice daily and we are wondering if this dosage might be on the high side? What tests are normal to rule out CHF positively? The vet said his BG was low, but wouldn't tell us how low, what other blood results should we be looking at?
What about CoQ10, how much is acceptable for ferrets, and should he be receiving anything else to help get him back on his paws? Years ago we had a cocker spaniel with CHF who was on Lasix, Enacard, CoQ10, and Omega3, should Clyde be getting something similar, or all of these?
The x-ray showed that almost all of one lung was filled with fluid, only the upper lobe was visible.
Clyde has not eaten or drank in over a week except for what we are giving him, which is his soup and Rebound, anyone with suggestions on how to get him back on his normal kibble and drinking water would be greatly appreciated.
Also, he is still whining and whimpering when he urinates and has a bowel movement, what can cause this and what can be done?
The vet has not treated ferrets in over 25 years and seems to be unsure of his treatment regime. Anyone with suggestions on how to get this vet educated on ferrets as right now he is letting everyone know that he does not wish to treat ferrets?
