Subject: [ferrethealth] Tasha has pneumonia
To: <ferrethealth@smartgroups.com>

Hi all, my name is Kathleen and my 9 year old silver female appears to have pneumonia. I took her to the vet last night because she has a raspy cough and the chest x-rays indicate either pneumonia or having aspirated something, although I can't imagine what. She has had diarrhea as well and became somewhat dehydrated. She started clavamax last night and I have been supplementing her with my version of ferret mush (chicken broth, softened kibble, ferretvite and olive oil). I will be going to get some Turkey baby food soon to add to it. She seems to be perking up and is already feeling better. I also obtained some antioxidants and will be giving her some good flora powders as well as I usually do when giving antibiotics. I have had ferrets for 10 years and have never had a ferret with pneumonia and was just wondering if there are any suggestions you all might have regarding her care over the next few days.

Kathleen and Tasha thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
