Subject: [ferrethealth] sarcoptic mange???
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Hi all,
My little guy Eddie has had intense itching. He has been diggin at himself so much that he developed raw open wounds. His feet and tail were hit really hard. Swollen and red.Eddie is usually a very active ferret but is now lethergic and sit's hunched and squints his eyes as if in extreme discomfort and has lost a lot of weight.. The vet "believed it was sarcoptic mange "(it's hard to see the mite so they go by symptoms)and treated him with an injectable ivermectin. That was about a week ago. He is still very itchy and still lathergic. Good news is his appetite seems to be back to normal. Has anyone ever had this happen to their ferret and how long did it take to see real results? I also have three others but they do not show any symptoms of this mite.

thnaks,
brian
