To supplement that post here are some accessible sources of highly reputable herbal info (including proven uses, suggested uses, medical and herbal conflicts, ages at which an herb might be dangerous (for instance the very young for eucalyptus) medical conditions where a given herb should not be used (for instance, carefully prepared eucalyptus *might* have uses for diabetes -- the work is very new and limited -- so it *might* be best avoided when insulinoma is present):

*****POSSIBLY IMPORTANT: Please, note that grapes (of many types) and raisins have caused kidney failure in both ferrets and dogs. It doesn't happen to all, but it does happen AND THE CAUSE IS UNKNOWN SINCE EVERYTHING LOOKED AT DID NOT PAN OUT SO FAR, so not knowing if the seeds may play a part it may pay to be cautious of grape seed oil when it might be chewed or licked off for ferrets just in case.*****
That said, it certainly in humans appears to have both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I do not know if it poses a risk of reduction in blood clotting like some anti-inflamatory meds do; some of the herbal meds with that use do carry that caution. (My personal favorite anti-inflamatory herb is turmeric (something else to avoid with insulinoma) but I have not dared to try it on any ferret yet, though I might if one began to throw clots that could not be controlled, and we we were up against a hard choice because I have been told that it reduces clotting but no one knows how gently or harsh that would be in a ferret. Besides, it amazes me that we haven't been reading of A1H5 human cases in India though that probably is just a reflection of the propensity to eat as vegetarians in such a large portion of the population. I keep itching to know what diets the Indonesian human cases used since that is so widely varied among the population which makes it fascinating for cuisine and food history. Sigh, now I crave gato gato.)
