Dr. John Rossi at Riverside Animal Hospital is an excellent vetrinarian and works frequently with ferrets. He is considered one of the best vets for ferret care in the south east by many of us shelter operator. He will give you an honest and fair assessment of the problem.

I think you have some issue with the diagnosis, because hair loss is not a symptom of insulinoma, but of adrenal disease. Insulinoma would affect the ferrets blood glucose levels. The ferret would probably have times being very lethargic and maybe staring off into space. But, again, hair loss is not a symptom of insulinoma.

It is probably almost certian that your ferret is adrenal. Adrenal can be controlled usually with melatonin. If your ferret is relatively young, then surgery is a good option to help ensure that a tuimor does not become malignant or spread somewhere else due to not being removed.

I would be interested in knowing where you brought your ferret for my own personal knowledge.

Am I missing something or is hair loss a sign of insuloma. I was more into thinking it is adrenal disease.
