Subject: RE: [ferrethealth] ferret 'screaming', violently shaking head and 'sneezing'
Hi
My name is Kim and I am not a vet but I have owned and operated Coffee
Creek ferret rescue for about 3 years. What you are describing sounds like
the seizures that my Paco had prior to his death. He too had had adrenal
surgery in his younger days and was blind. I took him to the vet and he
could find nothing wrong other than the seizures I was describing to him.
His finally ended in one of the worse seizures I had ever seen and then he
slipped off to the bridge. The only thing I can tell you is that I am told
afterwards they act normal because just like humans with seizure disorder
they don't realize anything has happened. People and animals that seize
don't know its going on during the seizure, people just know something has
happened because of the passing of time. I hope this helps, Paco was 12
years old this past October and had I known how awful it was gonna end I
would have put to sleep and saved him the last seizure. Another sign to
watch for is weakness in him. Paco had always been very active even and 12.
After the seizures began, he slept alot more and didn't seem interested in
playing. Good luck to you and your baby. Kim
