Deslorelin acetate IS available in the U.S., but apparently not for ferrets. I've found a lot of information about its use in horses, and there are places in the U.S. that sell it, so it's here. I'm not clear on why vets can't purchase it and use it in ferrets, other than the fact that it's not approved for use in ferrets. But then, plenty of drugs are used for ferrets that haven't been specifically approved for them. Maybe a vet or pharmacist out there could clarify why this couldn't be used.

I could be wrong, but since it appears to work in the same manner as Lupron, if Lupron is not effective, deslorelin acetate would probably not be effective either. That's just my take on it.
