The type being used for ferrets - the slow-release Deslorelin
implants (brand name Suprelorin) haven't gained approval in the U.S.
yet (at all not just for ferrets), but should be coming soon.

I think the implants that have come into the U.S. have been for trial
use. Not sure about any other forms of deslorelin; I guess if a
shorter lasting version is available now, I would think there would
be no point using that over Lupron.

The implants are available in Australia, but as far as I know, they
aren't registered for use in ferrets. But like Mike said, lots of
things aren't.

The manufacturers are 'keeping tabs' on the ferrets that receive them
in Australia, so maybe they are planning on having them registered
for use in ferrets. Who knows :)
