Even if just done for his overall quality of life I think that could make sense.
Have your vet or one of the vet's techs teach you how to do it hands on.
Some people prefer the technique that feeds directly from the bag and in some ways it is easier. I have crummy vision so for me the large syringe solution is better.
It is tricky finding the right needle size. Larger needles are harder to get in but they feed faster. A slow feed is a real problem and needs to be avoided. From our experience human needles are sharper than some veterinary ones but they are much longer. With either Hilbert when we were getting him past hydronephrosis we went to human needles for his comfort but had to be very careful to not have them go in too far. They require a prescription and the vet will have to discuss sizes with the pharmacy.
We usually have Steve do distracting with a treat and I do the needle.
Some ferrets have very thick skin; if the skin is really leather-like it is harder to manage the needle, so ask your vet how hard Bandit's skin is.
Is Bandit on steroids and pain meds? Have you looked at mobility aides?
I am sorry to hear that Bandit's health is worsening so much so rapidly. Sometimes that in itself narrows the possibilities of what is being encountered.
