Quiz is doing very well, he has gained weight and is no longer a rack of
bones. He's quite friendly and rambunctious, occasionally getting do wound
up he looks like he's having seizures ;-) but it's just because he's so
happy. He got to explore the computer room last night and really tired
himself out. Between the crazy running around and checking into
everything, he had to periodically come check that I was still here. I
just can't imagine anyone abandoning him to near death.

One thing that happened yesterday, I was checking his hair coat, looking
for any new growth, and noticed he was still shedding a lot. So I pulled
on some of that dry long hair and it came right out. All of it pretty much
except for his neck, head, and lower sides/belly. It was pretty thin to
begin with, and now it's almost all gone. I gave him a once over with a
damp washcloth, then put some Avon Skin So Soft on it to rub in. One
person suggested I give him an olive oil rub down (haven't done
that). He's on a good diet with meat treats, and looks very healthy except
for the hair (and a tail that was broken at the base sometime before I got
him). He has no signs of adrenal except the hair, so I am wondering if
it's is nutritional? THe dead old hair going while new softer and
healthier stuff grows back in. If it is, how long do I give it to grow
back in?

Quiz is also looking for his new home. With a house full of Boxers, he is
limited on his free time out, which really isn't fair to him. Now that his
weight is up, I decided he's healthy enough to find a new
family. Unfortunately, the one rescue I know about near here has a phone
number that's not working, and another that took in ferrets (a dog and cat
one) is no long doing so or helping find homes. Our local rescues appear
to be in some trouble, which is disturbing to me since we got in a Petco
that is dumping a lot of Marshall ferrets on the market (along with a
couple smaller stores), and no regard to who buys one.
