I want to second everything Sukie posted below.

Yes, chocolate is toxic to ferrets. Whether or not
the chocolate could have hurt your little guy depends
entirely on how much he ate and his body weight.

Sweets have been theorized to be a contributing factor
in developing insulinoma. Of course, one incident
isn't likely to be a big issue. Just because wild
weasels will gorge on sweets given the chance doesn't
mean that it's a healthy thing for our ferrets to do.


In any case, I do think the call to poison control is
in order. I'm paranoid enough that I'd probably
invest in a vet visit just for my own piece of mind
even if there are no obvious symptoms.
