Hi Caitlyn...

There has never been a study that proves chocolate is toxic to a ferret.
(Or many other animals) This 'idea' comes from the fact that a chocolate
ingredient, theobromine, IS toxic to dogs.

Just as some viruses are interspecies contagious (Sorry..I don't have the
correct term here) others are not. Dogs don't get the human flu, ferrets
do. Same holds for chocolate..different species react differently to
different chemicals.

As for sweets...I think you misread my comments. I only said that obligate
carnivores like sweets and that a little is not going to hurt them. I did
not, nor would I, advocate the wholesale 'stuffing' of our little monsters
with sweets....no matter how much they beg.

It's not even good for us humans!
