Subject: [ferrethealth] re: mystery disease-DIM
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Thank you all for your great support and advice. The situation is this as of
this morning, Sunday. The swelling in her groin is gone. She's crunching
some and drinking a lot and peeing a lot. The down side is that the 105 temp
remains the same. I did fax the Web site information to my vet and have spoken
at length with him. He is very aware of DIM and in fact, has seen 2 babies
with what might have been termed DIM. I guess the vet symposium in Maryland 2
years ago went over this subject quite well.

Anyway, he's not ready to say this is DIM based on the fact that she has no
other symptoms other than the persistent high temp. He's also not ruling it
out. This morning he reminded me that he's only seen/had her for 4 days and
during that time, the swelling is gone, she's drinking enough to not have to
use sub-qs anymore, she's got more energy and the temp has dropped 1.5 points.

I most certainly will report if it's decided that this is a bona fide case
of DIM. I know they seem to die tho' Doc tells me he had one little one
survive. That's the prayers and positive energies that I'm asking for at this point
in time.

Again my thanks.

Barb and Lizzie, who is fighting very well at this point
