Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] knee injury
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

About a year ago, one of my ferrets got a dislocated
knee on his rear leg. In his case, the vet pushed the
kneecap back in place and showed me what to look for
with a dislocated kneecap. You could feel a definite
pop in the knee. My vet didn't recommend pain
medication or other medication either. He's a pretty
healthy eater anyway, so we didn't supplement his
normal diet. I would have supplemented it if he
wasn't eating well though. Our vet told us at the
time that if the ligament was just stretched and not
torn, he should recover in 10 to 14 days. In his case
it was right at 14 days when he stopped limping. By
the way, she said these things normally happen when
they get a toenail caught on something and try to get
it free. Hope this helps.
