Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] hard belly
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I noticed her a little less active within the past couple of days and have been keeping an eye on her. She is eating and drinking fine, urinating and defacating is all ok. When I picked her up this morning, I noticed that her belly seemed a bit harder. I compared it to my other two's, and it is hardened, definately not soft like the other 2. It seems as if the hard shape is going kind of horizontally/diagonally across her belly. She weights about 1 1/2 lbs. Its not protruding or affecting her walk in any way. Its not the size of her belly that got my attention, it was the hardness of it. I did read in the archives about hard bellies, and my concern is it could rupture. But from what I read, I am thinking it has to become pretty large and effect her walking and eating and defecating? Is that correct? She will definately see the vet tomorrow, but when I read there's a chance it could rupture, I dont know if that means she should see a vet tonite?
Thanks Sukie.

Does the ferret have a temperature? What does the lump look like? What does it feel like? What do it's margins feel like? Where on the belly is it? Any other details? Is the ferret eating? Drinking? Urinating? Defecating?
