If the skin oil is more yellow that is among the possible causes of yellowing; it can even cause fur to look red that is not red. I can't recall reading anywhere a list of possible health causes of yellowing fur. We did have a male whose fur became more yellow because a female with adrenal disease (unfortunately ingrown into the Vena Cava and she did not have enough lateral circulation to risk a ligation) would grasp that male, who was the youngest ferret, and urinate on him.
Food dyes and some herbal preparations can cause yellowing. Marigold petals, for instance, can change colors of fur, and have even been used in part of the poultry industry in feed to give a more "buttery" look to white meat. Some foods have dyes which do this.
Years ago there was a person who was sold pale orange kits at a premium price as a special genetic fancy, and the people found that the kits became standard albinos over time. I can't recall which food route the person used but that was how it was done.
We have had some light ones turn more yellow over time for no known cause, but I can't recall personally one whose fur came in that way from scratch.
There are blonde ferrets whose fur color reminds me of strudle, though I can not recall the show term for that fur coloration, so I guess one possibility may be that a ferret whose fur comes in yellow from scratch may have some blonde genetics.
