Subject: [ferrethealth] Dry scaly feet
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Hi all,

I just adopted three beautiful rescues from MaFF, TJ you're great!
All are healthy, happy and adjusting very well.

Of the three, the one male has what appears to be calluses or dry
cracked skin pads on his rear feet. Not on the toe pads but on the
other pads. He is a bonded mate of a female and she doesn't have
this. He's about 3.5 years, MF, and in good health with smooth and
soft fur, not coarse.

I've searched the archives and didn't come up with much in the way
of responses to similar questions. My initial feeling is this is
just old skin, it isn't red, cracked & bleeding or infected looking.
I was wondering what it could hurt to just rub some petroleum jelly
into the pads, any ideas?

Leslie
