No, except for the most general symptom of weakness those are NOT DIM symptoms. DIM individuals typically have an excellent appetite, though they may need help eating. The weakness is typically greater than you describe. There typically is extreme fever. Usually the white count goes to extremely high levels during the illness -- levels higher than lympho even. There is commonly evidence of sepsis. There can be celluitis.

Obviously, you need to find out what is going on with skunk. Was there an ingested foreign body? Is there a large furball that is stuck in the stomach causing a partial blockage? Is there perhaps a growth impinging on part of the GI tract? Is there difficulty emptying the bladder (which does often interfere with the ability to pass feces, too)?

Have x-rays been done? With these symptoms in our guys we go for an x-ray (showing stomachh and intestines (Even though many blockages don't show up the gas that accumulates sometimes does.), bladder, and spleen (because one that is too large can impinge on the intestine).

What blood tests have been done? There should be a CBC with Chemistry Panel and if an in-house blood glucose can be done at the hospital then so much the better.

Has ultrasound been done?

Other things that can cause these symptoms include infection, insulinoma, or more. Insulinoma can cause nausea which reduces appetite.

What you describe is NOT consistent with DIM which has many main symptoms consistent with cytokine storms, and others that reflect that the tissues infected tend to be muscle tissues.

We took her to the vet yesterday and they suggested possibly feeding her with an eyedropper and suggested some vitamins, which we got and she has been eating the vitamin supplement but doesnt seem to be getting any better. She takes a few steps and falls over and lays in the floor. She was a very active ferret and we let the girls out every night for a few hours and we take such good care of them that we cannot figure out how we missed that she was losing that much weight, this has all happened in about three days. i was reading about a disease called disseminated idiopathic myositis and I am afraid that she has all the symptoms mentioned except i havent noticed any enlarged external lymph nodes. I am very scared that we are going to lose her. Please advise...Amy Babus
